Grass Cutting Services
Grass cutting late April through mid-November
Mowing your grass is one of the most important things done in maintaining the health of your lawn and the overall appearance of your home. Good and consistent lawn mowing is essential if you want a high-quality lawn, and will ensure that your lawn has fewer weeds, better tolerance to dry weather and generally better quality than lawns than those that are not regularly maintained.
Quality of Work
We offer 2 grades (quality of work) for grass cutting:
1.Basic Grass Cutting
For this service we cut the grass, trim as required, and blow the grass clippings we create off of your front driveway and walkway. It is designed to be an economical service that accomplishes the needs of most customers who are no longer able to do this job, while others may not want to spend their weekend doing it themselves. With this level of service, you will avoid complaints from neighbours and letters from the city, and keep your property looking maintained.
2.Upgraded Grass Cutting
In addition to provides the same as Basic Grass Cutting, more time is spent making the grass cut look nice (straight lines, for example), more care taken with trimming around flower beds and along fence lines, trimming weeds in walkways and sides of driveways on occasions as required, and grass clippings on paved walkways and patios that are at grass level are blown off. Additionally, excessive grass clippings that are in clumps on the lawn will be blown. This service is designed to make your lawn look really nice after it has been cut, the way you would make it look if you were doing it yourself.
Basic Grass Cutting is our default service. Please specifically request the upgraded service if that is what you want. The additional time required for this upgraded service will result in a higher price than our basic grass cutting service.
Frequency of Grass Cuts
Customers can choose how often they want their grass cut. We offer:
A regular weekly grass cutting service from May through September, followed by bi-weekly service until early November, subject to seasonal weather conditions.
A regular bi-weekly grass cutting service from May until early November, subject to seasonal weather conditions.
Due to the amount of sand in the soil, some lawns have very thin grass and may need cutting even less frequently than every 2 weeks. We can set up a schedule for you where we come to cut the grass every 3 weeks, every 4 weeks, every 5 weeks, or every 6 weeks (6 is our maximum).
Special Notes on Grass Cutting
- If we come to cut your grass on a week that you are scheduled to get a cut, and your grass does not need a cut, we will either (a) not cut the grass, do nothing but inspect the property, and apply a minimum "arrival" charge, and return the following week, or (b) cut the grass as per the schedule, and bill the job as usual.
- If we come to cut your grass on a week that you are scheduled to get a cut, and your grass cannot be cut due to other conditions or circumstances {road work, new roof shingles, locked or damaged gate, driveway repair or blocked, lawn just been sprayed, etc.}, we will miss your lot that week and apply a minimum "arrival" charge. However, we will return the following week to cut your grass, and will make all reasonable efforts to complete this job and leave your lot looking as good as we can, under the particular circumstances. This second visit to your lot will be billable at the regular rate.
- Our grass cutting program provides for mulching or side discharge in accordance with the 1/3 rule of mowing lawns (as recommended by experts). This means that you cut off NO MORE than 1/3 the length of the grass in a single cut. In general, we cut your lawn when the grass is about 4½ inches long, and cut it back to 3 inches. If your lawn is longer than about 4½ inches, it may take a second cut to bring the length down to 3 inches, or it may be cut higher to protect your lawn in summer heat.
- For customers who may want their grass clippings collected and bagged, this service may be offered, and the additional charge will be assessed based on the yard waste bags used, additional time taken, and the disposal method used for the bags. Additional charges will be assessed based on customer preferences.
- When our crew arrives to cut your lawn, a crew member will determine the service best suited to your particular lawn on that day. If the grass has grown a lot (now over 7 inches long), the grass may be cut, collected and bagged. If your grass has not grown enough to require cutting (now less than 4 inches long), the property will be tidied up and the driveway and front walkway will be blown off. For grass length between 4 and 7 inches, the grass will be cut in our usual and normal manner.
- In the early part of the grass cutting season (late April and May), many customers request that we "tidy up" their property from leaves and branches. Also, in this time-frame, the grass will grow at a faster rate than in the Summer, making it hard for us to keep on schedule. Please be patient. The price for your first lawn cut may be higher than your quoted price if your grass is excessively long (over 8 inches).
- If your lot has excessive sand and/or minimal top soil (you see dirt when looking at your lawn), you may be able to cut the grass once every 2 or 3 weeks, maybe even more. But if you have green grass on your lawn, it should be cut weekly. You will not get a good grass cut if your grass is excessively long (5" or more) at time of cutting.

Our standard procedures for all full grass cuts include trimming around the house, fence, flower beds, trees, etc. as required, and front paved driveway/walkway blow-off. Grass cutting with collection of the grass clippings is also available upon request at an additional charge. However, we recognize that this is YOUR lawn, and we will modify our standard procedures where feasible to provide the service you want.
General Notes
There is a yard waste bag charge added to all jobs where yard waste bags are used. These services include, but may not be limited to, grass cutting, dethatching, edging, Spring cleanups, Fall leaf collection, garden services and some "special service" jobs. The city provides services for the collection of these yard waste bags. We do not use customer provided lawn waste bags.
Prices provided on the ORDER FORM are based on the lawn area. Billing for some services is based on the time taken, equipment used, and quantity of leaf bags used.
